Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

AdOff is a Chrome extension that blocks advertisements and trackers. The data controller is the AdOff team, reachable via the support page.

2. Data we do not collect

AdOff does not collect, transmit, or store:

• Browsing history
• URLs of visited websites
• Personally identifiable data (name, email, address)
• User IP addresses
• Behavioral or analytics data
• Third-party cookies
• Any data that could be used to profile you

3. Data stored locally

AdOff uses chrome.storage.local and chrome.storage.sync to save locally, on your device:

• The Pro license key (if purchased)
• Extension preferences (e.g. site whitelist, UI settings)
• Activation state (enabled/disabled per site)

This data is never sent to third-party servers and remains in your browser. chrome.storage.sync may synchronize data between devices through your Google account, subject to Google's policies.

4. License validation

If you have purchased a Pro plan, the extension contacts our servers to verify the validity of your license. The following information is transmitted:

• The license key (an anonymous string generated at purchase)
• The extension version

No personally identifiable data is transmitted. Validation occurs anonymously. Server access logs are deleted within 30 days.

5. Third parties

AdOff does not share, sell, or transfer data to third parties for any reason. We do not use:

• Analytics services
• Advertising services
• Third-party tracking SDKs
• CDN networks that collect user data

Pro license purchases are processed through secure payment platforms (such as Stripe) that handle payment data under their own Privacy Policies, independently of AdOff.

6. Extension permissions

AdOff requests the following Chrome permissions, all necessary for its operation:

• declarativeNetRequest — to block network requests (ads, trackers)
• storage — to save preferences and license locally
• tabs — to apply settings to the active tab
• scripting — to inject hiding CSS on web pages
• webNavigation — to reapply filters when navigating between pages in the same tab

None of these permissions are used to collect or transmit browsing data.

7. Your rights (GDPR)

Under EU General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of any data we hold about you
• Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
• Erasure — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Data portability — receive your data in a portable format
• Restriction — request limitation of processing
• Objection — object to processing of your data
• Complaint — lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in the European Union

8. Data retention

Local preferences are stored on your device until you uninstall the extension or clear browser data. License validation server logs are automatically deleted within 30 days. Payment data is managed by our payment processor according to their retention policies.

9. Legal basis for processing

The legal basis for processing license validation data is contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) — it is necessary to verify your Pro license and deliver the service you purchased.

10. Minors

AdOff is not intended for persons under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy in the future. Any significant changes will be communicated through the extension or the website. By continuing to use AdOff after a change, you accept the new version of the policy.
