It may seem odd that a browser extension can affect both the public mediatheks (ZDF, ARD) and commercial players (RTL+, Joyn, ServusTV). The reason is that all of them converge on the same ad SDK for their browser players. Wherever the standard SDK is in play, the same neutralisation applies. This is why catch-up TV behaves differently from subscription streaming, where ads are stitched server-side and left out of the extension on purpose.

Can I skip the ads on Joyn for free?

AdOff is a free browser extension that neutralises the IMA ad SDK in the Joyn web player, so breaks usually do not play. Joyn's paid tiers are a separate commercial product; AdOff does not interact with your account.

Does it work on ORF and ServusTV in Austria?

Yes, both are part of the covered German-language group. The same mechanism applies when their browser players request the standard ad SDK.

Does AdOff replace the ARD/ZDF Rundfunkbeitrag?

No. The extension only affects advertising within the player and on the page. The Rundfunkbeitrag is a legal contribution and entirely unrelated to browser ad blocking.

What about the ZDF or Joyn smart TV app?
